MacDuff has worked horses, chickens and ducks. A dog that loves to keep order on the farm, MacDuff always returns escapees to their proper pen. He keeps raccoons, foxes, and possums away from the poultry, and alerts to squabbles etc that occur amongst the livestock.
A classic treeing dog that stands on the tree, MacDuff has treed squirrels, possums, and raccoons. It can be hard to call him off, but he will come if I insist. He corners and kills ground squirrels, mice, wood rats. He will dig up and kill moles. has become very good at catching and killing rodents. He seems to have a good nose – I see him scent tracking while walking in the woods.
MacDuff is moderately active – pretty laid-back when things are quiet – he lays on a little rise on the property, where he can sort of scan to see what is happening.
He has very keen eyesight – has alerted to a person standing about 1/4 mile away on the road. MacDuff knows the people who are regularly here and greets them after a barking briefly to alert me to their presence. He will bark louder at strangers, but will subside when called off and is not aggressive once one of his people is on the scene.
This one sounds like an especially nice one. PRGN.
