Yukon is a gentle but strong farm overseer whose guardian instincts are primarily focused on his people and property, though he’ll verbally alert to animals who are breaking the rules and will discipline them if needed.  He rarely interacts with baby livestock, moving them gently if needed.  He’s protected his family from snakes, aggressive livestock, predators, and overzealous dogs.  He patrols his territory often, chasing unattended dogs off and calmly announcing all visitors.
When asked, Yukon prefers to herd his sheep from a distance using only a dominant stance and stare to get their attention.  He seldom grips and prefers to gather, but will herd in whatever direction and grip whatever part of the sheep is necessary to get them to go where his owner desires.  While herding small stock like ducks, he is very gentle and only uses nose bumps as extra encouragement.  He knows the daily routine and will remind his owner if chores are due.
Yukon loves to hunt!  While he normally catches and dispatches vermin on his own, he will call off of any hunt for his owner.  He trees squirrels, opossums and raccoons and will bark treed until someone comes to relieve him of his duties.
