Tara is a moderately active dog who likes to be in the middle of whatever’s happening. Her herding style is very strong, sometimes a little too much for the smaller stock she’s been worked with – sheep and chickens. She uses dominant posturing, heel nips and will grip the back of stubborn sheep’s necks to make her point.
She is good with stock when not herding and is usually found in the middle of the herd or flock licking faces and bottoms. She is reluctant to come indoors at lambing time, wanting to remain with her stock. She patrols often, but with much more gusto when there are baby animals being born. She doesn’t like human visitors at all and will rush at them from behind, trying to drive them off.
Tara loves to hunt and eat her kills. She stalks field mice, trees squirrels, and has indicated through the fence that she wouldn’t mind a chance at a deer.
